TeleSim is a collaborative research project based at The University of Calgary that is aimed at the modeling, simulation and analysis of advanced, next generation communication networks. Research areas include advanced networks, high performance simulation, and network emulation.

Our research into high performance simulation is important to our research into advanced networks since trillions of events are often needed to simulate large networks under realistic traffic loads. Our main focus in this area has been in producing parallel and distributed simulation kernels. Our research into advanced networks has produced large network simulation scenarios that are essential to proving the effectiveness of our simulation kernels, thus these two areas of research fuel innovation in one another.

Our research into high performance network simulation has led naturally to the creation of a network emulator. This allows real IP hosts to interact via a virtual Internet providing a reliable test environment for distributed applications. This is a real-time application where high performance network simulation technology is essential.
